Taberna Noroeste — Restaurant Review in Barcelona
Taberna Noroeste offers a highly enjoyable modern take on Galician cooking in an intimate, informal setting where the kitchen and service feel almost like part of the table. The food and warm experience are the reason to come; the wine list, dominated by natural wines, is decidedly less compelling.
The tasting menu is very interesting, and in many cities the cooking would probably attract Michelin-star attention. The tiny, informal room has the kitchen counter directly in front of the tables, creating an unusually intimate and personal atmosphere. On our visit, the waiter and cook seemed to be handling virtually everything themselves, which occasionally resulted in some waiting but also made the evening feel warm and familiar. We thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the overall experience. The wine list is much less convincing and leans heavily toward the kind of natural wines that are common in Barcelona, so this is somewhere we would visit for the food rather than for the wine.
