A family-run seafood restaurant on Carrer de Mallorca, built around the daily catch brought in by a family with six generations at sea. Fish takes centre stage, prepared with a straightforward, product-led approach.
La Maroteca describes a direct connection between its fishing family and the table: Agustí brings in the catch and helps guests choose their fish, while Olga cooks traditional seafood dishes that keep the flavour of the product in focus. On our visit, the daughter of the family who run La Maroteca first showed us the fish counter and told us about the history of the restaurant and the family business with genuine warmth. Her knowledgeable advice on each dish made us feel in good hands from the outset. She even showed us the best way to open percebes (goose barnacles). Hospitality is clearly taken seriously here.
