Aleia — Restaurant Review in Barcelona
Aleia is a well-deserved two-Michelin-star restaurant that strikes an excellent balance between experimental ideas and refined reinterpretations of classic dishes. The beautiful, old-school setting of Casa Fuster, exceptional ingredient quality and thoughtful cooking make it a very convincing fine-dining experience.
The two Michelin stars are well deserved. The setting can feel a little formal, but inside the beautiful, old-school Casa Fuster it somehow fits perfectly. What impressed us most was the quality of the ingredients and the way each dish seemed conceptually designed to enhance them rather than overpower them, which at times felt closer to a Japanese or Italian approach than to the style we often encounter in Spanish fine dining. Unfortunately, we cannot really comment on the wine list because we chose the non-alcoholic pairing. That turned out to be one of the worst decisions of the evening — next time we would rather drink water, or preferably the good stuff.
Thoughtfully curated natural wine list with strong Catalonia, Galicia and Loire representation.
